It took a little over a week for the Memphis Tigers football program to find its next head coach after firing Larry Porter on Nov. 27. TCU co-offensive coordinator Justin Fuente is slated to become the next Memphis coach, according to John Martin of TigerAuthority.com. This comes just a day after it appeared that Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Jim McElwain was reportedly close to a contract agreement with the school. As Martin also mentions, McElwain had accepted a deal and then reneged on it.

Fuente joined TCU in 2007 as a running backs coach and then moved to his current position as co-offensive coordinator in 2009. He also took over as the quarterbacks coach, grooming Andy Dalton into a second round NFL draft selection and the Cincinnati Bengals' starting quarterback. He worked with Casey Pachall in 2011, one of the better quarterbacks in the league not named Kellen Moore.
