Southern Methodist head coach June Jones certainly doesn't approve of the start his Mustangs have had against the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies lead the Mustangs, 14-7, midway through the first quarter as a result of sloppy passing by quarterback Kyle Padron.
SMU Vs. Texas A&M Score: Aggies Convert Turnovers, Lead Mustangs, 14-0
In Jones’ wide-open, pass-happy offense, Padron has 41 career touchdown passes, but he has thrown two interceptions in just the first quarter of the first game of the season. Each time the Aggies have taken advantage of the turnovers and scored a touchdown.
Steven Campbell returned the first interception for 51 yards to the SMU six-yard line. Two plays later, Christine Michael plowed into the for a four-yard touchdown run. Trent Hunter grabbed the second interception and returned it for 30 yards. Running back Cyrus Gray picked up 29 yards on the ensuing drive while Ryan Tannehill had a 16-yard pass. Gray's last run, a five-yarder, resulted in the touchdown (though it did require a review that confirmed the call).
