Despite a brief surge in the first half when backup quarterback J.J. McDermott entered the game, the SMU Mustangs haven't been able to put anything together in the second half. Texas A&M increased its lead by 10 points, 43-14.

The Aggies drove down the field to start the third quarter and wound up on the SMU two-yard line. However, the Aggies were unable to punch the ball inside the end zone. Kicker Randy Bullock booted a 19-ayrd field goal. On their next drive, Ryan Tannehill threw his second touchdown pass, a 32-yard reception by Huston Prioleau. Tannehill is 21-of-26 for 246 yards.
The Mustangs went for it on fourth down on their first drive of the quarter, but J.J. McDermott came up with an incomplete pass on an eight-yard down.
