Arizona Wildcats coach Mike Stoops told ESPN's Jenn Brown that WR Justin Criner is recovering from an appendectomy on Monday and will miss Thursday night's game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Stoops also said that he hopes Criner will be ready to play for the Wildcats' Pac-12 opener against the Stanford Cardinal on September 17, but also considers him "week-to-week."
When asked if Criner had had an appendectomy on a Tuesday conference call, Stoops denied the claim. A day later, he reversed field.
An appendectomy is the removal of one’s appendix and is is normally performed as an emergency procedure, when the patient is suffering from acute appendicitis.
The embattled wideout, who was the subject of medical rumors all summer long, continues to battle off-the-field issues despite word earlier this fall that he would be ready to go for the Wildcats.
Criner had 82 catches for 1,233 yards and 11 TDs last year and is expected to be a major part of the Wildcats offense, if and when he returns.
