FSU running back James Wilder Jr. was arrested after attempting to prevent a law enforcement officer from arresting his girlfriend.
FSU’s Wilder arrested for third time in 11 months

USA TODAY SportsJames Wilder, Jr. is once again in trouble with the law, as the Florida State running back was arrested Sunday after missing a court date.
Wilder, a sophomore, turned himself in to police after failing to appear at a Dec. 20 arraignment for driving with a suspended license.

Remember when Florida State running back James Wilder, Jr. was arrested a few months ago, then briefly suspended as his charge was reduced to a misdemeanor? He’s now landed in trouble again, and this time the punishment could cost him game time.

Wilder finished third on the team in rushing in 2011 with 160 yards on 35 carries, also tacking on a couple of catches. With Jermaine Thomas departing due to eligibility, Wilder had a very good chance at taking on a significant role in FSU’s offense. But missing practice time and, potentially, a game or two could cost him. He missed just one game as a freshman, the opener against UL-Monroe.
Many a remark has been made by Noles fans that maybe now Wilder can be made to switch to linebacker, a position some still think the 6’2, 220-pounder from Tampa is better suited for.

Police claimed Wilder shoved an officer, while the running back says he was only trying to show the officer a text message.
Either way, Wilder was trying to keep police from arresting a girl he’s been with since middle school. Yes yes sure sure fine fine she was allegedly about to be taken in for missing a court date for a criminal mischief charge, and you shouldn’t go and do things like that, but this will certainly go down as the most chivalrous arrest of the college football offseason.

Wilder has been charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence, both felonies, according to the processing officer.
Wilder’s girlfriend, Bianca Carmada, was being arrested on a warrant for failure to appear stemming from a prior charge of criminal mischief when Wilder intervened.
