The Florida St. Seminoles have suspended sophomore running back James Wilder Jr. after his Wednesday arrest for allegedly pushing a police officer who was attempting to arrest Wilder's girlfriend. Wilder's attorney confirmed the suspension to the Orlando Sentinel.

Wilder finished third on the team in rushing in 2011 with 160 yards on 35 carries, also tacking on a couple of catches. With Jermaine Thomas departing due to eligibility, Wilder had a very good chance at taking on a significant role in FSU’s offense. But missing practice time and, potentially, a game or two could cost him. He missed just one game as a freshman, the opener against UL-Monroe.
Many a remark has been made by Noles fans that maybe now Wilder can be made to switch to linebacker, a position some still think the 6’2, 220-pounder from Tampa is better suited for.
