Remember when Florida State running back James Wilder, Jr. was arrested a few months ago, then briefly suspended as his charge was reduced to a misdemeanor? He’s now landed in trouble again, and this time the punishment could cost him game time.
James Wilder, Jr. Fails Breathalyzer Test, Could Be Suspended From Games
Writes Bud Elliott at Tomahawk Nation, where the incident was first made known:
Wilder is back in jail for violating his probation. We suspect this will result in a suspension, likely of one or two games. Luckily for Florida State, the first two games are against Murray State and Savannah State.
One must wonder if Wilder knew that they breathalyze workers, or if he thought it would be out of his system by the morning.
Wilder finished third on the team in rushing in 2011 with 160 yards on 35 carries, also tacking on a couple of catches. With Jermaine Thomas departing due to eligibility, Wilder had a very good chance at taking on a significant role in FSU’s offense. But missing practice time and potentially a game or two could cost him. He missed just one game as a freshman, the opener against UL-Monroe.
