Former Minnesota Golden Gophers linebacker Gary Tinsley was found dead Friday morning, the university confirmed. The 22-year old was found unresponsive in his apartment at Roy Wilkins Hall on campus and was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact cause of death is still unknown. University spokesman Chuck Tombarge said that there were no indications of foul play.

Former Minnesota Golden Gophers linebacker Gary Tinsley was pronounced dead at his apartment Friday morning. He was 22 years old.
Tinsley had just completed his eligibility this past season with the Gophers. He finished his career with 198 tackles, and was second on the team with 87 last season. Head coach Jerry Kill, starting quarterback Marqueis Gray and university police chief Greg Hestness are expected to appear at a press conference scheduled for Friday afternoon.
It has been a rough year for the Golden Gophers’ football program. Some early season promise in a close loss to USC was overshadowed when Kill suffered a seizure on the sideline against New Mexico State. The team finished 3-9, but ended the regular season with a 27-7 win over Illinois.
