It hasn't been a good offseason for Oregon State's Malcolm Marable. First, he pleaded no contest to driving 104 miles an hour in a 65 zone in February, getting him suspended for winter workouts and earning him a fine and a suspended license. Then, Sunday, he was arrested after hitting a nightclub security person when one of his teammates was not allowed entry to the bar.
Oregon State CB/KR Malcolm Marable Arrested After Club Scuffle
Oregon State reserve cornerback Malcolm Marable had his second run-in with the law this offseason on Sunday night when he got into a fight with a club security guard.
Marable's incident began when 19-year old teammate Ryan Murphy tried to enter the club by using fellow Beaver Anthony Watkins' driver's license. Murphy was cited with trespassing and misrepresentation of age, but that's not the issue: when Marable tried to "free" Murphy from the security guard, he hit him, causing him to be arrested on charges of violent conduct.
Marable hasn’t yet had a chance to contribute as a cornerback, but showed his worth as a kick returner, averaging 24.8 yards on 13 kickoffs in his sophomore season. We’ll see how Marable’s second run-in with the law effects his status with the team.
