It’s hard to think of a more deserving eligible player who’s not in the “actual” College Football Hall of Fame than Tommie Frazier. And it might have taken the fan vote and more than a little kvetching to get it done, but the SB Nation College Football Hall of Fame is pleased to induct Frazier as part of it’s inaugural class. Nebraska’s Tommie Frazier Inducted Into SB Nation College Football Hall of Fame
There’s almost no reason for Tommie Frazier not to be in the Hall of Fame. As far as our Hall goes, that’s no longer the case.
Nebraska quarterback Tommie Frazier is the only player in college football history to be named MVP of three national championship games. Frazier guided the Cornhuskers to two national championships, including the 1995 Nebraska team that is considered by many to be the best team in college football history. Frazier finished his career with a 33-3 record, and set a school record with 5,476 yards of total offense. Frazier finished second in the Heisman Trophy ballot in 1995 (Eddie George, Ohio State) and was selected as a first-team All-American by many outlets. He set records for rushing yards in a bowl game (199), total offense in a bowl game (304 yards), the longest touchdown run in a bowl game (75 yards) and if there were a record for it, the most guys to make tackle fail in a singe play, as shown below:
Frazier captured a commanding 68 percent of the vote in our fan poll. He joins Vince Young of Texas in the quarterback wing.
The SB Nation College Football Hall of Fame is a summer project involving all of the network’s excellent college football blogs. Each community could nominate five of its own for inclusion, with 10 of those nominees being inducted by our selection committee, which included reps from most FBS conferences. The remaining 10 were chosen by public vote.
