Auburn recruit Jovon Robinson was ruled ineligible after an investigation determined at least one of his high school grades had been improperly changed. Yahoo! is the latest to report the NCAA is investigating.

NCAA probing Auburn after all

John Reed-US PRESSWIRESources told Yahoo! that the NCAA is investigating potential improprieties involving various members of the Auburn athletic department including recruits, players, coaches, third parties and reps of the school’s athletic interests.
Two members of the Auburn coaching staff who have already felt the sting of the investigation are assistant coaches Trooper Taylor and Curtis Luper who were taken off the recruiting trail, according to sources that spoke with Yahoo!. Head coach Gene Chizik would not speak directly on the matter (and he’s still not talking, though the investigation could very directly involve him), instead moving the focus to his players and coaches as they prepare for what could be the last game of the coach’s tenure with the program.

Former Wooddale assistant football coach Courtney Rogers (a former wide receiver at the University of Tennessee) gave a brief comment that confirmed he was questioned by investigators:
Marcus Rogers, his brother, was a previous coach at Wooddale and has also claimed to have talked to the NCAA, says Solomon.

Robinson’s eligibility status has been the flashpoint into an investigation of college football recruiting in Memphis. The true freshman practiced with the Tigers in August camp, but lost eligibility after his high school counselor was found to have changed a grade on his transcript.
Auburn is currently 0-2 after losses to Clemson and Mississippi State, and will host Louisiana-Monroe, who upset Arkansas on Saturday, this weekend.

Robinson is the Memphis running back who was admitted to Auburn and then subsequently ruled ineligible after it was found that his transcripts were falsified by a guidance counselor.
The question, of course, then became one of Auburn’s involvement, if any.

The Wooddale High guidance counselor in question has resigned, according to a statement from Memphis City Schools.
