Trindon Holliday wants to send Ray Lewis to early retirement

Just when you forgot about special teams, Holliday gives you a reminder that they play football too.

“Happy Birthday, coach!”

That's what Trindon Holliday is probably saying to Broncos special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers. Except that instead of getting him a tie, he broke one.

With Denver and Baltimore tied at 21-21 going into the second half, Holliday ran back the opening kickoff 104 yards to give the Broncos the lead back. He must really like giving Denver the lead because it’s already the second time he’s done it today. Holliday opened the scoring with a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter, the longest in playoff history.

That makes it a doubly special day for Holliday, especially considering that the Ravens did not allow a kickoff return or punt return touchdown all season long. If this is indeed the last game for Ray Lewis, maybe he should try his hand at special teams before he goes. Maybe that's the only thing that will keep Baltimore's playoff hopes alive.

Holliday is making it very hard for them to advance. It’s not a good day so far for John Harbaugh, I hope it’s not his special teams coordinator’s birthday.
