Let it be known that Titans coach Jeff Fisher cares more about keeping his running back happy than sparing your feelings. While those who look at Chris Johnson’s final stat line might assume he had an overall solid game against Jacksonville, it was on Tennessee’s last clock killing drive that Johnson put up a large chunk of his stats.
Titans Vs. Jaguars: Tennessee Dedicates Final Drive To Chris Johnson’s Stat Line
With the Titans leading 23-3 with six minutes to go, Fisher ran Johnson seven times, on which the rusher gained 66 yards and scored his only touchdown of the night. That figure represents almost as much total yardage as he had the rest of the game.
While there are those who might carp that Fisher was trying to run up the score, the Jaguars knew what was coming at them late in the game and were finally unable to stop Johnson, when the only interest on his mind was piling up yardage.
