One last time, Mason Crosby got a chance to finish what the Packers offense couldn’t.
Jets Vs. Packers: Mason Crosby Tacks On Game-Sealing Field Goal, Packers Finish Shutout
In this case, it was a drive that started deep in Jets territory after a turnover on downs, but Crosby still finished it, with a 40-yard field goal to made the score 9-0.
With it, the Jets’ hopes of a comeback went from preposterous to impossible. Tasking Mark Sanchez with getting nine points in 27 seconds is just not a realistic recipe for a comeback.
And Sanchez couldn’t engineer a miracle, hitting a deep pass over the middle and running for another 20-plus yards as time expired, but ultimately ending the game with no points.
The shutout is Green Bay’s first since a 2009 blanking of the Lions, and the Packers’ first road shutout since saddling Tampa Bay with a goose egg in 1991. And it drops the Jets to 5-2 while moving the Packers to 5-3 and sole possession of the NFC North lead.
