You may have heard, Brett Favre didn’t play in Monday night’s 21-3 loss to the Giants. He spent the game on the sidelines in black warm-ups with a winter hat on, hiding his freakish, purple hand.
Giants Vs. Vikings: Minnesota Eliminated In 21-3 Loss, Favre’s Season (Career) Over?
Favre was not on the field to see Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw combined to rush for 219 yards and two touchdowns.
He was not playing against Eli Manning, who threw for 187 yards and a touchdown while overcoming a pair of early interceptions.
He did not take the lumps at quarterback. That was Tavaris Jackson, sacked four times and temporarily knocking him out of the game late in the third period.
Favre spent the night roaming the sidelines as the Vikings lost the game and were officially eliminated from the playoffs just a season removed from going to the NFC Championship.
With that, the speculation begins. Is Favre’s season, and as an extension, career, over? With everything he’s been through this season, on and off the field, can he possibly put himself and his family through another one?
Speculation has begun that Favre will be placed on IR for the remainder of the season and some have hinted that even if he isn’t, he’s no longer going to be the starter.
If it’s over, Favre clearly went out a year too late (if not more). But then again, that’s part of his legacy now, isn’t it?
