Vincent Jackson is having a field day against the San Francisco 49ers. Already on the board twice, Jackson made it a hat trick, scoring for a third time early in the fourth quarter. This time, Philip Rivers found Jackson from 21-yards out and Jackson did the rest, diving over the pylon for the score. The play was reviewed after Jackson appeared to lose possession while diving toward the end zone, but the play was upheld.
49ers Vs. Chargers: Vincent Jackson Makes It A Hat Trick
Jackson’s third touchdown likely sealed a game that’s never been in doubt. The Charger defense still holds a shutout, limiting the 49ers to just 107 yards for the game. The Niners more punts, six, than they do first down, five.
The Charger offense is abusing the 49er defense, using a balanced attack and timely big plays to move at will. Jackson’s touchdown was setup by a 22-yard connection between Rivers and Randy McMichael on third and ten. Though the Charger running backs have had a tough time finding room to run, Rivers has been outstanding, throwing for 273 yards and three touchdowns on 19-25 passing.
