Before the San Diego Chargers dominated the San Francisco 49ers, we passed along some information from Bolts From The Blue that suggested Philip Rivers would have a huge game going deep to Vincent Jackson. As if Bolts From The Blue could see into the future, Rivers and Jackson did just that.
49ers Vs. Chargers: Philip Rivers To Vincent Jackson Is Dangerous In San Diego Victory
Jackson caught five balls for 112 yards and three touchdowns while Rivers was an efficient 19-of-25 for 273 yards. They were almost perfect.
But it’s not the offense that has the attention over at Bolts From The Blue -- it’s the defense. The Chargers have now given up seven points in the last two weeks.
Four days removed from a shutout, the defense managed to keep the visiting 49ers off the board until they had a 34 point lead in the 4th Quarter. Six Chargers defenders registered sacks of Alex Smith and Steve Gregory forced the lone turnover of the game when he intercepted a 4th Down passing attempt during garbage time. San Francisco was not any more successful running the ball than they were throwing it as they totaled only 61 yards on 15 carries.
