49ers Interview Tony Softli For GM Job, Jed York Confirms

The San Francisco 49ers have interviewed at least one candidate for the vacant GM job. Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports Tony Softli was interviewed this week.

CSN learned, and confirmed through York, that he interviewed former Panthers and Rams personnel man Tony Softli, whom the Rams released in June. Softli had previously held the position vice president of player personnel with the Rams. He was not retained after former 49ers personnel man Mike Williams was promoted to the same title.
The 49ers current VP of player personnel, Trent Baalke, is also a candidate for the job. CSNBayArea.com reports former Broncos GM Ted Sundquist is also "on their radar" though he hasn't been interview.

York indicated that he would have "in person or phone interviews through Sunday" and determine if he will hire one of them or extend his search into people who are currently on NFL teams.

The 49ers will hire a GM before they hire a head coach so Jon Gruden or Jim Harbaugh may have to wait.
