New York Jets WR/KR Brad Smith headlines the inactives list for today’s playoff game against the New England Patriots. He injured his groin last week against the Indianapolis Colts and had been a game-time decision.
NFL Playoffs, Jets Vs. Patriots: Brad Smith Inactive Could Gve Joe McKnight Opportunity
While Antonio Cromartie will fill in for Smith on special teams and the team has activated WR Patrick Turner, this could mean an expanded role for Joe McKnight. While the rookie is listed as a running back, he’s filled in everywhere from special teams to cornerback at various points this season, has been trained to play receiver, and does have a handful of catches.
The rest of New York’s inactives: QB Kellen Clemens, FB John Connor, TE Jeff Cumberland, DL Marcus Dixon, DE Vernon Gholston, DL Jarron Gilbert, and TE Matt Mulligan.
New England will be without CB Tony Carter, RB Thomas Clayton, OT Mark LeVoir, LB Marques Murrell, OL Rich Ohrnberger, WR Taylor Price, DL Myron Pryor, and RB Fred Taylor.
