The New England Patriots first offensive series, minus WR Wes Welker due to a foot-related suspension, ended with Tom Brady throwing his first interception in 340 attempts. Brady attempted to dump the ball to BenJarvus Green-Ellis while Calvin Pace pressured, with David Harris grabbing the ball and lumbering deep into Pats territory.

New England strolled right back down the field to kick a field goal, with its three-headed running game good for 44 yards and Brady firing for 76 yards. TE Alge Crumpler caught a 28-yarder to set up the score, but couldn’t convert a chance to pull in a sure touchdown.
Toward the end of the scoring drive Welker caught a 10-yard pass to tremendous local approval.
Filling in for Brad Smith, Antonio Cromartie ran back a kickoff near midfield to set up the Jets next attempt.
