The New York Jets took the Buffalo Bills to the woodshed today; using their power running game to cruise to a 38-7 victory.
NFL Week 17 Scores And Results: Jets Trounce Bills, 38-7
Coming into the game, Jets had averaged 280 rushing yards per game in their last three games against the Bills. Today was no exception, as they rushed for 276. Rookie RB Joe McKnight lead the way with 32 carries for 158 yards. RB Brad Smith carried the ball five times for 60 yards.
While QB Mark Sanchez did start the game, he did not throw the football once. He played during the Jets first drive, handed the ball off eight times, and his day was done after that. Journeyman QB Mark Brunell completed six of 12 passes for 110 yards (two touchdowns, one interception).
For the Bills, it was QB Brian Brohm’s first career start. A humbling game for him, as he completed 10 of 23 passes for 106 yards (3 interceptions). RB Fred Jackson didn’t provide much help, carrying the ball 13 times for 35 yards.
With the Jets victory and a Kansas City Chiefs loss, it appears the Jets are headed to Indianapolis next week for a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game.
