The Dallas Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the first meaningless late season game between the two teams in the last three seasons. Despite the outcome, the Eagles will take on the Green Bay Packers at home in the first round of the NFL playoffs, Sunday at 4:05 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
NFL Week 17 Scores And Results: Eagles Back Ups Beaten By Cowboys, 14-13
Of most importance from this game is the fact that the Eagles broke its franchise record for offensive points scored for a third consecutive season. Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb's touchdown pass to wide receiver Chad Hall, the first touchdown reception of Hall's short career in the NFL, broke the record for the 2010 Eagles.
After going up 7-0 on the Kolb-to-Hall touchdown, the Eagles quickly surrendered the lead due to a Kolb mistake. Losing the ball to a strip by a Dallas defender, Kolb's fumble was taken by Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware into the Philadelphia end zone for a 17-yard fumble recovery touchdown.
Kicker David Akers knocked in two field goals, a 43-yarder and a 22-yarder, to put the Eagles ahead 13-7. However, the lead would not last. With 55 seconds left in the fourth quarter, rookie quarterback Stephen McGee found tight end Jason Witten for a 4-yard touchdown, giving Dallas its first lead of the game.
The Cowboys would not squander its only lead, stopping a come back attempt by the Eagles to win 14-13, over a Philadelphia squad that contained mostly back ups.
