The Indianapolis Colts were supposed to steamroll the Tennessee Titans today.
NFL Week 17 Scores And Results: Colts Win Thriller Against Titans Via Adam Vinatieri Field Goal, 23-20
That never happened.
In a game that was tied throughout the majority of the second half, the Colts and Peyton Manning prevailed. “Laser rocket arm” completed 27 of 41 passes for 264 yards (two touchdowns).
On the other side of the ball, though, QB Kerry Collins completed 28 of 39 passes (two touchdowns), with a QB rating of 111.1.
Still, when the game was on the line, and everything mattered, Collins fumbled it away. With under two minutes remaining, RB Dominic Rhodes coughed up the ball with the Colts driving. Tennessee was back in business, and had the football on Indianapolis’ 35-yard line. It was setup for them to steal a victory.
After a Chris Johnson run for two yards on first down, Collins had the ball snapped to him on second down, but muffed the snap. The Colts recovered, and the end result was a 43-yard Adam Vinatieri field goal leading the Colts to victory.
The Colts will play the Jets on Saturday night in the first round of the AFC Divisional Playoffs.
