NFL Week 17 Scores And Results: Patriots Stay Sharp, Dominate Dolphins 38-7

Who needs rest? The New England Patriots, having already sewn up an AFC East title and a first-round bye in the NFL playoffs, played their starters well into the third quarter and completely dominated the Miami Dolphins in their regular season finale, winning by a final score of 38-7.

Tom Brady threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns, and then his backup, Brian Hoyer, came into the game and threw for another 122 yards and a score against Miami’s overwhelmed defense. Julian Edelman returned a punt 94 yards for a touchdown, and BenJarvus Green-Ellis added a score and 80 rushing yards on 20 carries.

New England will now get the rest they put off today next weekend, as they watch the first round of the NFL playoffs from the comforts of their own homes.

Miami, meanwhile, lost quarterback Chad Henne with a concussion in this contest. Backup Tyler Thigpen came in and threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Davone Bess in what was the only bright spot for a Dolphins outfit that finishes the season 7-9.
