The Oakland Raiders have done something rather curious and impressive: in defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 31-10 on Sunday, they completed a six-game sweep of the AFC West. They defeated the Chiefs, Chargers and Broncos twice each in 2010, and still managed to only finish 8-8 on the year.
NFL Week 17 Scores And Results: Raiders Sweep AFC West, Beat Chiefs 31-10
Michael Bush was the key to Oakland’s sixth and final divisional win of the season. He ran all over the playoff-bound Chiefs, totaling 137 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. Jacoby Ford added a touchdown run on a reverse, and Jason Campbell added 155 passing yards and a touchdown to Chaz Schilens.
Oakland’s defense also came to play. Jamaal Charles did rush for 87 yards and a touchdown in this one, but the Raiders were all over Matt Cassel early and often, holding Cassel to 115 passing yards and two interceptions on 11-of-33 passing.
This game was tied at 10 in the third quarter, but three straight Raiders touchdowns in the second half put this game well out of reach late. Kansas City finishes the season 10-6, winners of the AFC West and set to host a first-round NFL playoff game next weekend.
