Vikings Vs. Bears Halftime Score: Chicago Up Early Thanks To Minnesota Miscues

The Chicago Bears have not looked amazing thus far in the NFL season, but that has all changed in the first half of their Sunday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings. After 30 minutes of play, the Bears have taken a 26-3 lead into halftime after three touchdown scores and a safety for good measure.

The Bears got on the scoreboard early when Jay Cutler connected with Devin Hester on a long play-action pass for their third play of the game. From then on, it's been all Bears as they've been able to find the end zone three times while limiting the Vikings offense to just one field goal.

Jay Cutler threw 20 times in the first half for 193 yards and two touchdowns, one to the aforementioned Hester and the other a 13-yard strike to undrafted free agent Dane Sanzenbacher. The Bears other touchdown came when Marion Barber jogged in from three yards out on his only rushing attempt of the first half.

The Vikings looked largely inept in the first half despite Donovan McNabb completing 15 of his 19 passing attempts -- albeit for just 138 total yards. Adrian Peterson has been held in check, too, as his eight rushes have netted him just 16 yards on the ground. It might be time for Christian Ponder, the Vikings' first round pick, to show what he can do in the second half.
