Matthew Stafford Injury: Status Of Lions QB Still Unclear

The Detroit Lions said earlier this week that the injury to Matthew Stafford’s leg was just a day-to-day situation. That may be the case come Sunday but at Wednesday’s practice it was Shaun Hill taking first team snaps while Stafford threw to receivers in individual drills.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that while the Lions hope he’ll be available on Sunday, there’s a “big question” as to whether he will be.

So, basically, we’re where we were when we started: we don’t know either way whether Stafford will be playing on Sunday.

Stafford left last Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons in the final seconds of the game with a right leg injury and the Lions weren’t sure what was wrong. Later, Stafford had an MRI and the team determined everything checked out and there was no damage done to his knee or ankle.

The Lions travel to Denver this weekend and then hit their bye week before a difficult four-game stretch that includes the Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints.

Check out SB Nation’s Pride of Detroit for updates later in the day about Stafford’s injury.
