NFL Odds And Lines Week 5: Bengals Vs. Jaguars

The Cincinnati Bengals head to Jacksonville as slight underdogs to the Jaguars. Don’t expect much in the way of offensive fireworks in this duel between rookie starting quarterbacks.

The Cincinnati Bengals have struggled mightily against the Jacksonville Jaguars in recent history, just 2-9 over their last 11 games played, including 1-7 in Jacksonville. Those struggles are perhaps a big reason why the Bengals enter this weekend as 1½-point underdogs despite looking like the slightly better team through the season's first four games.

The Bengals are just 2-2, but a win over a rejuvenated Buffalo Bills team last week should give Cincinnati some momentum heading into this weekend. Andy Dalton went just 18-for-36 passing for a touchdown and two interceptions during the game, but he did lead a 10-play, 80-yard touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter to help complete the Bengals' comeback.

The Jags are coming off a 23-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints, their second double-digit loss this season though it should be noted that their schedule so far has been much tougher than Cincinnati's. Still, averaging just a tick over nine points per game isn't very good no matter who you play. Rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert completed just 38 percent of his 41 pass attempts against the Saints.

The over-under here is set at 36½ points. Despite the low benchmark it would be tempting to take the under in this one, considering how futile both teams have looked on offense at times this season.
