Danny Amendola Update: Rams WR Will Have Surgery, Be Placed On IR

The St. Louis Rams officially lost their top receiver today. Danny Amendola will undergo surgery to repair a torn triceps, according to his agent. The Rams later confirmed that he will be placed on the injured reserve list, officially ending his season.

Amendola dislocated his elbow in the Rams’ season opening loss to the Eagles. It looked like he might be close to returning last week as he started taking reps in practice for the first time since suffering the injury. It was in practice where he re-injured his arm, tearing his triceps further, to the point where surgery is now required.

Amendola’s injury is just one of several major injuries to hit the luckless Rams this year. In that same week one game, they lost starting cornerback Ron Bartell to a fractured vertebrae. Bartell will miss the rest of the season, and his NFL future is cloudy. Yesterday, the Rams lost their other starting corner, Bradley Fletcher, to a torn ACL which happened in a drill during their bye week practice.
