Monday Night Football Odds: Packers Heavy Favorites Over Vikings

The Vikings travel to Green Bay to play the Packers on Monday Night Football tonight, but beating the defending champions won’t be easy. Can the Vikings at least cover the spread? All content produced by SB Nation’s odds partners at OddsShark.com.

The biggest underdog of Week 10, the Cardinals, won outright on the road against the Eagles, 21-17. Can the second biggest underdog do the same under the Monday Night Football spotlight?

The Minnesota Vikings have a much more daunting task as 14-point underdogs against the Green Bay Packers (it is as low as -12.5 at some shops tracked by OddsShark.com).

The Vikings come off a bye week and have 15 days off to figure out how to stop the 8-0 Packers. Chances are, they didn’t figure it out, although recent head-to-head trends suggest they might be able to keep it closer enough to cover the spread. “They are 8-3 ATS in the past 11 against Green Bay, but the Packers are 3-1 ATS in the past four, so be careful with that angle,” said Mike Pickett of OddsShark.com.

“Interestingly, the last time the Packers were double-digit favorites, it was against these same Vikings and they covered at home on Oct. 23.”

Indeed the most compelling recent head-to-head trend focuses on the total. Six of the past seven head-to-head meetings rewarded OVER bettors.

That same OVER angle has been a money maker when the Vikings come off a bye week. They come out with offense firing and defense misfiring as 11 of the past 13 years, the Vikes have played OVER in this situation.

Perfect-season props have started popping up around the Internet as the Packers look to go 9-0. They are a longshot, but worth a look for lottery players.

The Monday Nighter also features the usual array of hundreds of player props such as Adrian Peterson rushing yards (over under is 92.5) and Aaron Rodgers passing yards (over under is 321.5), both at Bodog.

Good luck with your Monday Night picks.
