NFL Scores Week 9, Buccaneers Vs. Saints: New Orleans Flexes In NFC South Clash, Wins 24-6

Drew Brees reached two milestones as New Orleans avenged an early-season loss and assumed control of the NFC South.

The New Orleans Saints got their revenge on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 9, and took control of the NFC South in the process.

Drew Brees threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns, the Saints ran for 195 yards as a team, and New Orleans kept the Bucs at bay all afternoon in a 27-16 victory that may have been more lopsided than the score indicates.

Tampa Bay's offense was a woeful two-for-12 on third down, and the Bucs had just three plays of more than 20 yards in their loss. Josh Freeman threw for 281 yards, but most came on catch-and-run plays.

Brees also hit two milestones on the day: his two touchdown passes extended his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass to 36, tied with Brett Favre for second-most in NFL history, and he moved into the top 10 on the NFL's list of most completions all time, passing Joe Montana.

The win pushes New Orleans to 6-3 and sole possession of first place in the NFC South. Tampa Bay falls to 4-4 with the loss.
