The New England Patriots are trailing the surprising Denver Broncos in the second quarter of their Week 15 matchup. New England is already down a player following an apparent leg injury to defensive end Andre Carter at the tail end of the first quarter.

Carter hit the turf at the end of a play in the first quarter and immediately grabbed his left knee. He lay on the field as an injury delay was called and a cart came out to retrieve him. He was able to stand and be assisted to the cart and was then driven off the field.

Given the nature of the injury, it is unlikely that Carter will return to the game, which has to be seen as a huge defensive loss for the Patriots. In the first half so far, the New England defense has has difficulty containing Tim Tebow and the rest of the Broncos offense.
