The Minnesota Vikings released Donovan McNabb and, despite thinking a couple of teams might be interested, we're left wondering if anyone will claim him off the waiver wire. Among the early teams mentioned in connection with McNabb were the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Chicago Bears.
Donovan McNabb To Bears Not Expected To Happen
Reports out of Dallas say the Cowboys aren't likely to claim McNabb. They were considered one of the candidates because backup Jon Kitna is hurt and they already made a claim on Kyle Orton (who ultimately went to the Chiefs) last week.
The Texans also aren't interested in McNabb, despite their quarterback issues. Both Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart are out for the year so the team has turned to rookie T.J. Yates and backups Jake Delhomme and Kellen Clemens.
That leaves the Bears, who many folks thought would be interested in McNabb. According to Chris Mortensen, the Bears are not expected to show any interest in McNabb. Sounds like they'll continue rolling with Caleb Hanie after Jay Cutler's injury.
So will anyone pick up McNabb, off the waiver wire or in free agency?
