Fantasy Football Week 15: Studs Include Drew Brees, Calvin Johnson

Here are some studs that either helped you (or your opponent) win in your fantasy playoffs in Week 15.

Fantasy leagues are nearing the end of the playoffs and if you’ve won your Week 15 matchup, congratulations are in order.

Like every week in fantasy football, there were some extraordinary individual performances. Here are five of them and if one, or more, of these guys were on your roster this week, they may have been responsible for your win (or your opponent’s win).

Drew Brees QB New Orleans Saints

For the second time this season, Drew Brees threw for five touchdowns in a game. He completed 32 of 40 passes for 412 yards and five touchdowns and didn't throw a single interception. Brees led the Saints to a 42-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings and in doing so they guaranteed themselves a berth in the playoffs.

Score (ESPN standard scoring): 36 points

Calvin Johnson WR Detroit Lions

Here is a little bit of advice for the last two teams that play the Lions in the 2011 season: stop Calvin Johnson. That is all. The Raiders didn't stop Johnson and in the end they lost to the Lions by one point. Johnson caught nine passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns in Oakland on Sunday, handing the Lions a 28-27 Week 15 win.

Score: 33 points

Matthew Stafford QB Detroit Lions

Calvin Johnson wasn’t the only wide receiver that Matthew Stafford was throwing touchdown passes to. By the end of the game, Stafford had racked up 391 passing yards and four touchdown passes. He completed 29 of 52 passes and, like Drew Brees, didn’t throw a single interception.

Score: 29 points

C.J. Spiller RB Buffalo bills

C.J. Spiller is getting a chance in the Bills' offense now that Fred Jackson is on Injured Reserve and today, at least to his fantasy owners, he didn't disappoint. Against the Dolphins, he carried the ball 12 times for 91 yards and a touchdown and added 76 receiving yards on nine catches for another touchdown. The Bills lost to the Dolphins but when it comes to fantasy numbers, Spiller was a winner.

Score: 28 points

Tom Brady QB New England Patriots

In the ridiculously publicized matchup between Tom Brady and Tim Tebow, Brady came out the victor. Tebow had a good game too but it just wasn't Brady-good. Brady completed 23 of 34 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball six times for two yards and another touchdown. He also didn't have any turnovers.
