Kyle Orton Injury: Chiefs QB Hurts Finger On First Pass Attempt

In a season that has been largely defined by failure, the Kansas City Chiefs may have received yet another piece of regrettable news. Quarterback Kyle Orton headed to the sidelines to have his right hand index examined after he bent it awkwardly while making a throw. The injury happened on Orton's first pass attempt after he replaced Tyler Palko.

The Chiefs picked up Orton after he was waived by the Denver Broncos on Nov. 22. There was discussion that Orton would start on Sunday, but Palko was ineffective during much of the first quarter. Although he had completed 4 of 6 passes, it was for just 27 yards and the Chiefs had been held to 46 total yards.

Orton came into the game and the Chiefs attempted to open it up immediately with a flea flicker. But Orton was pressured heavily and his pass feel incomplete. Even worse, he could be out for an extended period.
