ESPN reported this week on the ACL injury to WR Terrell Owens and noted that he wouldn’t be ready until late November. They also reported that the injury happened sometime in the last month. Owens’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, went on SportsCenter Tuesday morning to clarify several items about the injury and Owens’ future.
Agent: Terrell Owens Will Be Ready This Season, Not Retiring
First, Rosenhaus said Owens will be 100 percent within a month and should be ready for the opening of the 2011 season. This was a little surprising but Rosenhaus suggested several times that Owens would be ready for the season in September.
Second, Rosenhaus said the injury occurred in April. He declined to say how it happened but ESPN’s report had a source saying it happened on a taping for a reality TV show and another source who said it happened during a personal workout. Rosenhaus said Owens has been around lots of people over the last few months who didn’t even know he had an injury at all.
Third, Rosenhaus predicts there will be teams interested in signing Owens. Once the lockout is over, he expects to show teams via a physical that Owens is fine. He cites his recovery from a broken leg to play in the Super Bowl with the Eagles as evidence that he heals faster than most.
The only way to judge whether Rosenhaus is correct is to see where Owens is on Sept. 11 when the NFL season starts.
