NFL Free Agency Update: Paul Posluszny Linked To The New York Giants

Veteran inside linebacker Paul Posluszny is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent when the 2011 league year begins, and while he'd prefer to remain with the Buffalo Bills, he does have ties to New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.

Fewell was the Bills’ defensive coordinator when Posluszny was selected with the 34th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft out of Penn State. In 31 games (all starts) under Fewell, Posluszny totaled 247 tackles, one quarterback sack, four interceptions and four forced fumbles. In 2010, the Bills shifted to a 3-4 system under new coordinator George Edwards, and the 6-foot-1, 238-pound Posluszny set career-highs with 151 tackles and a pair of quarterback sacks.

A move to New York would also mean a move back to middle linebacker in a 4-3. During an interview last week with Sirius XM radio, Posluszny admitted to being interested in playing for Fewell again.

Definitely, because of that connection,” Posluszny said of his interest in playing for the Giants. “I love Coach Fewell and the type of defense that he ran when we were in Buffalo, you know, had a good relationship together. Actually I have an uncle that lives in the New York area and he just sent me a text the other day saying he’s read on the internet that the Giants is a possible spot for me.
“I mean, so yes, there’s a lot of interesting possibilities out there and the one thing about free agency, all players, I think, you want to know your true value.”
