The latest NFL trade rumor making the rounds involves -- who else? -- QB Kevin Kolb. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback will be one of the most sought after commodities on the trade market when the league year opens. Kolb is still under contract but, with QB Michael Vick in tow, it's believed that the Eagles will listen to offers for Kolb.
NFL Trade Rumor: Eagles’ Kevin Kolb For Cardinals’ Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie?
So the rumor making the rounds this week is that the Cardinals would be willing to send CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to Philadelphia, plus potentially a draft pick, in exchange for Kolb.
Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 in Arizona got the rumor started saying the Cardinals are prepared to make the deal and Les Bowen of the Philly Daily News doesn’t think it’s so crazy.
Obviously, the Eagles still aren’t going to say anything about this. And I’m not sure why the Cards would, but I do know the lockout is close to ending. And the Eagles are going to trade Kolb. And Arizona is the most likely destination. And a starting-quality corner who has been chosen for the Pro Bowl (year before last) is something the Eagles could use.
It definitely makes sense on a couple of levels. The Eagles are prepared to make a Super Bowl run right now so a player -- instead of a draft pick -- may be a little more valuable.
SB Nation’s Bleeding Green Nation has been all over this rumor for a while now. Here’s their full analysis of this trade rumor last month.
We’ll see what happens. The only thing we can assure you of now is that this won’t be the last Kevin Kolb trade rumor that we hear.
