Among the 2011 NFL free agents teams will be clamoring after is Matt Hasselbeck by virtue of him being a serviceable quarterback in a league starved of able signal callers. Hasselbeck has stayed largely mum about his potential destinations however, leaving many to guess.
2011 NFL Free Agency: Matt Hasselbeck Among Most Sought After Quarterbacks
The Arizona Cardinals would seem to make sense, considering last year's circus. Tennessee is often mentioned as a destination as well. There, he could serve as a mentor to Jake Locker, the Titans' No. 8 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. The same could be said of Minnesota, where the Vikings will be grooming Christian Ponder. The Seahawks are still a possibility, though Seattle may be ready to move on.
No matter where he lands, Hasselbeck doesn’t project much better than a one-year stopgap for any team. He hasn’t played a full season since 2007, which was also the last time he had a positive TD:INT ratio. Hasselbeck will be 36 next season. Bodies only last so long in the NFL.
