The New York Giants don't have any restricted free agents but they still have some work to do with unrestricted free agents. A few key players are hitting the open market on Friday at 6:00 p.m. (ET) when free agency officially opens and New York wants to keep a couple of them.
NFL Free Agency 2011: Giants Have Decisions On Steve Smith, Ahmad Bradshaw
First, WR Steve Smith is reportedly willing to consider a one-year deal with the Giants. This may be the best move for him as he improves his stock before trying to hit it big on the open market next season.
Second, TE Kevin Boss wants to re-sign with the Giants but he'll test the market first saying he's earned the right to do that as a free agent. The Giants need to clear some cap space before they can bring him back.
Third, RB Ahmad Bradshaw says the Giants have a 75 percent chance of re-signing him but there should be a decent market for him so it'll be interesting to see what the max contract is for the Giants on him.
The Giants have 15 total unrestricted free agents and, like most teams, they’ll want to bring a lot of them back given the lack of an offseason. Smith, Boss and Bradshaw would be a good start for Big Blue.
