Nnamdi Asomugha’s Free Agency Tour Can Begin

CB Nnamdi Asomugha is clearly the biggest name on the free agent market and could command a contract averaging over $15 million per season. He's arguably the best cornerback in the game and guys like him don't hit the open market very often.

So some team out there will capitalize and bring him in on Friday when free agents can officially sign with teams. The question is who will that team be.

The Houston Texans appear to be one team that could show interest in him. They're near the salary cap but could restructure some other deals to gain the necessary cap space to bring him in. An interesting note is that Asomugha can hold Texans WR Andre Johnson down like few other cornerbacks can so the logical move for them would be to bring him onto the team. Also, of note, is that the Texans need a top-flight secondary to compete with the Indianapolis Colts in their own division.

Another team we're seeing rumored to be in the running is the New York Jets. It's unclear if there's a lot of interest there but the Jets seem to be in on every free agent. ESPN's Chris Mortensen suggested that Asomugha could consider taking less money to play for a winner, like New York.

The Asomugha rumors will continue through at least Friday when teams can start signing these unrestricted free agents.
