Despite his off-the-field antics this past offseason, Aqib Talib will remain a Tampa Bay Buccaneer, according to Bucs' GM Mark Dominik.
Tampa Bay Expects Aqib Talib To Remain With Team In 2011
Issues stem from a shooting incident in Texas back in March when Talib allegedly shot at his sister’s boyfriend and tried to hit him with a handgun on March 21 in Garland, Texas. That came after Talib tried to pin the crime on his mother.
Talib spent the pre-lockout and lockout days training alongside his Tampa Bay teammates and the Buccaneers never made a public statement one way or another about his future with the team. Until now, at least.
Talib is still awaiting trial, which will take place March 2012. However, the NFL could step in and take action before that. Talib is held accountable to the league and Roger Goodell and this is the kind of thing the NFL loves handing out suspensions for. He might still be a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but it could still be a long time until Talib plays again.
