According to a person with knowledge of the negotiations, The Star-Ledger is reporting that the New York Jets have extended an offer to wide receiver Santonio Holmes. Terms of the deal are unknown.
New York Jets Extend Offer To WR Santonio Holmes, According To Report
Holmes is considered one of the top WR free agents on the market alongside Santana Moss. Moss recently re-signed with the Washington Redskins for 3-years and $15 million. Holmes was rumored to be the Redskins first choice.
Despite sitting out the first four games of the 2010 season while serving a suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, Holmes still managed to post decent numbers: 52 catches, 746 cards and six touchdowns.
One would assume given the interest the Redskins were showing, that the Jets offer will be even with, if not slightly better than, the one Moss received.
