Maybe the New York Giants signed Mark Herzlich just to offset the criticism they'd get from bringing back Plaxico Burress. That very move is reportedly being discussed, says Adam Schefter. That definitely doesn't mean the team will go ahead and offer him a contract, but oh, man.
Could Plaxico Burress Return To New York Giants? In Discussion, Says Adam Schefter
Burress spent four seasons with the Giants before going to prison for shooting himself right square in the pants.
The big receiver has brought down 7,845 career yards and 505 catches since being drafted in 2000 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. After being released from jail, he'd previously listed the Jets, Eagles, Bears and Texans among teams he'd like to play for. Actually, it seems like he listed the names of whichever teams were within earshot whenever he gave an interview.
Hey, maybe it would turn out OK. He's succeeded with Eli Manning as his quarterback before, and it's not like he's the same guy that he was when he went in. Could make for a pretty cool story if it worked out.
