NFL Free Agency Rumors: Rams, Vikings Competing For Malcom Floyd

Now that the Seattle Seahawks have reportedly signed wide receiver Sidney Rice to a five-year deal, the losers in the Rice sweepstakes will now turn their attention to Chargers wide receiver Malcom Floyd. The Minnesota Vikings, who had been Rice's team up until Wednesday, and the St. Louis Rams are the top two teams pursuing Floyd at the moment, according to Chris Wesseling.

Floyd had emerged as a starter for the Chargers over the last two seasons. Injury limited him to just 11 games in 2010, but he did finish with career highs in touchdowns (6), yards per reception (19.4) and yards per game (65.2). His career high in receiving yard (776) came in 2009.

Turf Show Times, our Rams blog, questions whether Floyd could turn into a No. 1 wide receiver. It’s a valid question to ask of a receiver entering his seventh year in the league and has only entered the spotlight the last two seasons.
