Rumored Jets Trade Would Free Up Antonio Cromartie Cap Space

Since missing out on new Philadelphia Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha, the New York Jets have turned their attention to re-signing Antonio Cromartie. This is because they don't have any other good cornerbacks! No.

For hours now, they’ve reportedly been trying to find a way to fit Cromartie under the salary cap. According to John Clayton, this now means “calling around” to try and find a willing trade partner. No word on what they might be offering, but assume it’s one of their other really good cornerbacks. No, don’t assume that.

Cromartie has made it to Sunday to become one of the most highly sought free agents left in the great derby of 2011. The Jets appear to have the inside track, but the Eagles didn’t appear to have any type of track whatsoever in the race for Nnamdi, and look what happened there. Just look at it.
