Osi Umenyiora reported to New York Giants training camp over the weekend and was activated from the reserve/did not report list, but that isn't the end of story as far as the defensive end is concerned. According to ESPN's John Clayton, the Giants and Umenyiora talked on Sunday about his trade demand and informed him that they would seek a first-round draft selection in any deal.
Osi Umenyiora Wants Seahawks Trade, Giants Want First Round Pick
Umenyiora's preferred destination would be the Seattle Seahawks, according to Clayton, but there are no indications that the Giants have reached out to them or any other team at this time. But this could turn into a big distraction during camp.
Umenyiora is close to finishing a seven-year deal he signed in Dec. 2005 that payers him $3.125 million this season and $3.975 million in 2012. The total deal was worth just over $41 million. Given his production since that season (37-1/2 sacks) he is certainly ready for a bigger payday in New York or with another team.
