The San Francisco 49ers drafted S Taylor Mays in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft and, with new head coach Jim Harbaugh in the fold, it appears they're now ready to trade him, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Taylor Mays Being Shopped By San Francisco 49ers
Former second round pick S Taylor Mays is being shopped around by the San Francisco 49ers.
49ers sent out a mass email this afternoon to teams around the league to try and trade safety Taylor Mays.
Well, that’s one way to get your message out. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that one team says they’ve never seen that before.
So the 49ers did this knowing full well it would get out there. Is it a legitimate effort to trade Mays? Why did they send this to every team? I guess we’ll find out once these GMs start answering their email.
Mays appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers last season, starting six games. He finished the season with 38 tackles. He’s a big safety at 6’3” and 230 pounds so he has some limitations in space but has always been described as loads of potential.
With the report of a possible trade for Mays, Niners Nation’s confidence poll on Mays is noteworthy.
