Sunday's matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions is setting up like another bad Hollywood body-switching movie. The Lions are wearing the same Honolulu Blue uniforms you have come to associate with awful football, but in a hackneyed twist they look much more like the hot young upstart team that the Chiefs were last season. The Chiefs, if their Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills is any indication, could be in line for a rough sledding ahead.
NFL Picks Week 2: Chiefs Vs. Lions
In a bit of role reversal, the Detroit Lions are expected to cruise over the Kansas City Chiefs according to experts.
The Lions are one of the biggest points favorites in Vegas this week, but that didn’t stop SB Nation’s Andrew Sharp from taking Detroit and the 9-point spread at Ford Field. He also officially placed Todd Haley on notice.
ESPN agreed, making the Lions one of eight unanimous winners across their panel of human experts. Accuscore took the Lions as well, predicting a push on the point-spread with a final score of 28.0-19.2.
CBSSports joined ESPN’s mob of experts giving Kansas City zero chance to rebound against Detroit. Pete Prisco at least took the Chiefs to beat the spread, saying that the team was better than their Week 1 performance.
Peter King showed none of Prisco’s mercy, damning the Chiefs to a 14-point loss after they burned him and his predictions by losing big.
The sports world has made it clear that it doesn't look too kindly upon those who lose by 34 to teams named the "Buffalo Bills." Experts haven't been this high on a young offensive core like the Lions' Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson and Jahvid Best since the trio of Matt Cassel, Dwayne Bowe and Jamaal Charles all those many, many months ago.
