What I find interesting about Jackson’s firing is the timing of it all. It comes only hours before McKenzie was to be officially introduced at a press conference at the Raiders facility. The press conference is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
So McKenzie’s first press conference as a Raider goes from an introductory setting to answering questions about why he fired the head coach.

The Oakland Raiders decided to fire head coach Hue Jackson on Tuesday, according to a report from ESPN, and the reactions from the Raiders faithful over at SB Nation’s Silver and Black Pride aren’t good for the team. It seems most Raiders fans do not approve of this move.

At first glance, the move comes as a surprise because most firings take place within days of the regular season ending -- not a week and a half later. Until last week, we thought Jackson was safe but once McKenzie was hired there was concern by some that Jackson could get the ax.
The problem? Jackson wanted control but McKenzie was the man hired to run the organization. It’s easy to see where there could be conflict with a personality like Jackson’s.
